Moving Tips
Here
are some things to think about as you prepare for a
move:

 |
Summer
is the peak moving season. If you can be flexible, please do
not wait until the Summer to move. The first and last weeks
in a month and Fridays are extra busy for all movers. |
|
If
a full door to door packing service is required, please specify
a date when it is convenient for an agent to survey your household
and prepare an estimate. |
|
Check
your house before the agent arrives from attic to basement to
determine what items need to be moved and which will be left.
Show the agent everything that needs to be moved. |

If
you plan to pack items yourself, start collecting suitable packing
materials and containers. |
|
Have
all packing completed in good time for the moving day. |
|
Dispose
of all flammable or other hazardous items such as cleaning materials
(e.g. bleach), aerosols, fireworks, matches, paint etc. Drain
petrol from lawnmowers, outboard motors etc. Disconnect and
drain washing machines etc. Defrost fridges, freezers etc. |
|
Unplug
all electrical items such as televisions, computers etc 24 hours
in advance of a move so that they will be at room temperature
on moving day. |
